Converted figures use today's exchange rate (₹95.30 per US dollar, as of 29 October 2026) and update automatically as the rupee moves.
Planning Across Currencies
If the family is funding the wedding from abroad:
- Fix the budget in rupees, because vendors quote in rupees.
- Convert early and in stages. A 2–3% move in the rupee on a ₹50 lakh budget is ₹1–1.5 lakh.
- Track what each transfer actually delivered after fees and bank margins.
Reading Vendor Quotes
- "₹2,500 per plate" for 400 guests is ₹10 lakh for catering.
- "₹3.5 L" means ₹3,50,000.
- Destination venues abroad may quote in dollars or euros; convert to rupees before comparing with Indian venues.
Gifts and Shagun
Guests living abroad often ask what a sensible gift is in their currency. As a reference, $100 ≈ ₹9,530, £100 ≈ ₹12,700 and AED 500 ≈ ₹13,000 at today's rates. Many families still prefer amounts ending in 1, such as ₹5,001 or ₹11,001.
