Bollywood Box Office in Dollars
Updated
Indian box office numbers are reported in crore, Hollywood numbers in millions of dollars. That makes comparisons confusing. Here is how 2026's biggest Indian hit looks in dollars, and how to convert any collection yourself.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge in Dollars
| Collection | INR | Approx. USD |
|---|---|---|
| Worldwide gross | ₹1,852.44 crore | ~$194 million |
| India (net) | ₹1,108.09 crore | ~$116 million |
| Overseas | ₹475.93 crore | ~$49.9 million |
The film became the second-highest-grossing Indian film of all time. For comparison, Border 2 earned about ₹464.5 crore worldwide (about $48.7 million).
Converted figures use today's exchange rate (₹95.29 per US dollar, as of 30 October 2026) and update automatically as the rupee moves.
Why Dollar Reports Show Different Numbers
International trade press reported Dhurandhar: The Revenge at around $147 million worldwide partway through its run. The gap with the rupee total comes from timing, from converting at different exchange rates, and from gross versus net figures. Indian "net" collections exclude taxes; "gross" includes them.
How to Convert Box Office Numbers
Divide the crore figure by the rupee rate (₹95.29 today), then multiply by 10, to get millions of dollars.
- ₹100 crore ≈ $10.5 million
- ₹500 crore ≈ $52.5 million
- ₹1,000 crore ≈ $105 million
So the "₹100 crore club" is roughly a "$10 million club", and a ₹1,000 crore film has crossed about $100 million.
Comparing With Hollywood
Ticket prices in India are a fraction of US prices, so a film that sells far more tickets can still earn fewer dollars. When comparing a Bollywood hit to a Hollywood one, dollars tell you revenue, while footfalls (tickets sold) tell you how many people actually watched.
